A Poem — “Making History”

U.S., Cuba
restore ties.
Canada claims
credit.

We were the
host, the facilitator,
the neutral
ground.

Let no one
think
the former foes
could have done
it without us.

Meanwhile, in
Ottawa,
discussions are
in high gear
to select an
adequate site
for the
National Memorial to Victims of
Communism.

(Editor’s note: poet Shai Ben-Shalom, an Israeli-born biologist, examines current events in the Blacklock’s tradition each and every Sunday)
