A Sunday Poem — “Red”

The Speech from the Throne is read.

Money for tax cuts;

healthcare;

infrastructure;

the environment;

Indigenous Peoples;

refugees.

Canada is painted in Liberal red.

And the budget, too,

is steadily sailing away from the

black.

(Editor’s note: poet Shai Ben-Shalom, an Israeli-born biologist, examines current events in the Blacklock’s tradition each and every Sunday)
