“Lockdown” — A Poem

Stay indoors.

Shelter-in-place.

No one to enter this facility

without photo ID.

Emails

from Integrated Services;

Government Operations Centre;

the Program Manager.

Spokesperson says

the Prime Minister is safe.

Outside,

contract painters finish lunch,

apply a second coat

to the building’s exterior.

(Editor’s note: poet Shai Ben-Shalom, an Israeli-born biologist, examines current events in the Blacklock’s tradition each and every Sunday)
