Poem: “We Stand On Guard”

If you suspect

a terrorist is living in your neighbourhood

you’d be relieved to know

he’s moving overseas,

but

with the new anti-terror legislation

Canada will disrupt his plans

– take away his passport –

so he can still meet you

at the grocery store,

see you

at the gas station,

open his door to your kids

on Halloween night,

all in the name of

Public Safety.
