Home bakers yesterday launched a federal petition drive to have Parliament proclaim National Butter Tart Day. The all-Canadian pastry is an indelible part of the country’s “culinary and cultural heritage,” wrote petitioners: “The butter tart is a cherished Canadian dessert.”
